Since implementing their trade and economic reforms in 1979, China has been rising as a global superpower. Some economic forecasters even predict that this great nation will soon surpass the United States as the largest economy in the world. In light of its dominant role in the global arena, Lee Mosol, MD, MPH acknowledges the importance of understanding China's past. In his new book, Ancient History of the Manchuria, he examines the history of the Middle Kingdom, particularly Manchuria, in unprecedented depth.

The ancient history of China is rich and colorful. Unfortunately, the Chinese Imperial Courts have tarnished the interpretations of ancient Chinese scriptures, and historians subsequently failed to correct the discrepancies. This gap was what moved Dr. Lee to write his incisive book and rectify what he calls a "one-sided traditional Chinese claim". The starting point of his essay is the major war waged by Emperor Wu and from there he gives voice to the eastern end of the Great Wall. His work also delves into pertinent subjects such as Imperial China, Chinese ideograms and Confucian culture.

Thought-provoking and relevant, Ancient History of the Manchuria serves both as a rewarding starting ground for beginners in the field of Chinese history and a source of fresh insights for experts and scholars.
