COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Feb. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ Dr. Jeff Gauer is no longer content to watch the powerful abuse the powerless; on February 20, he will begin a hunger strike to protest the hypocritical and discriminatory practices of Gallaudet University. The motivation behind this protest is fully described in the e-book "Deaf Ethics," which will be available on the same day. In short, Dr. Gauer was let go from his position while on approved medical leave, based largely on falsehoods about his performance and scholarship.

Dr. Gauer pinpoints four egregious actions that Gallaudet administrators have called "justified":
February 20 is an auspicious day to launch a protest of this significance it's the World Day of Social Justice, and Dr. Gauer's actions are a plea to restore justice and sanity at Gallaudet. He contends that University Presidents, including the recently-appointed Roberta Cordano, have sorely neglected these principles. Meanwhile, the university collects $2.5 million in US taxpayer money every week without meaningful oversight. A White House petition to freeze Gallaudet funding is live now, and Dr. Gauer asks everyone who believes strongly in his cause to sign.
"I gave President Cordano a copy of this book weeks before it launched," says Dr. Gauer. "Ms. Cordano, unfortunately, wishes to maintain Gallaudet's strategy of hiding wrongdoings and hoping they'll go away. Refusing to even have a dialogue with me, Cordano practically dared me to launch 'Deaf Ethics.'"
With the release of "Deaf Ethics" and his hunger strike, Dr. Gauer hopes to finally bring scrutiny to a university that has been insulated for too long. His desire is to see the restoration of the basic tenets of fairness and human decency that should characterize any respected institution of higher learning.
