Dr. Cliff Edward Williams Pens Book About Living With Polio

Living with a disability doesn't mean life has to be disabled.

At the age of 18 months, doctors diagnosed Dr. Cliff Edward Williams with polio an irreversible disease that would have a significant impact on the rest of his life.

In his memoir, "The Life and Legend of a Polio Victim," Dr. Williams traces his life from birth to present day, detailing all the trials and tribulations along the way to achieving personal and professional success as a well-educated and well-traveled business professor.

"I want my story to reach all handicapped people, either as a result of illness, accident or military service, to help them understand that they can also find success in life," Dr. Williams said.

Dr. Williams hopes his story will also encourage parents who have children living with disabilities that anything is possible.

"It should be a joy to see a child with a handicap able to do the same things that other children do, such as read, play or simply walk through the lunch line," Dr. Williams said.

About the Author
Dr. Cliff Edward Williams has a bachelor's degree from Mississippi Valley State University, a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and a doctorate degree from the University of Houston. Prior to retiring from a career in business education, Dr. Williams was a professor of business at Mississippi Valley State University for 35 years, including 16 years as the department chairperson. He has published two other books, "The Ayers Case" and "Family Finance." Dr. Williams is married and has two children.
