Local authors Dr. Carl and Jennie Robinson recently teamed up with Tate Publishing to kick-start the publication process of their new photography book Still Above Ground.

Still Above Ground is a pictorial look at one of New Orleans fascinating tourist attractions, highlighting some of the greats and not so greats from the early 17th century to present. It is an awe-inspiring display of French, Gothic and Greek revival architecture.

When asked about their decision to sign the book, Tate Publishing owner and acquisitions editor Trinity Tate-Edgerton responded, "We are thrilled to welcome Carl and Jennie into our family of Tate authors.... This beautiful collection of photographic masterpieces will change your life if you let it. The imagery and the way in which Carl can capture an image are soulful and poignant."

The authors/photographers feel equally enthused about their partnership with Tate Publishing, stating their "Christian mission/values, along with feeling [they] appreciate... the idea, photos and history we portray" motivated them to choose the publisher.

When asked about the inspiration behind the photography in the book, the authors replied, "Photographically the inspiration comes from a love of taking photos in the right sky, light, background and "feeling" what is before [us]. Historically, the inspiration was to tell the wonderful stories of those who created and formed New Orleans, black and white."

Referencing the popular saying "I'm still above ground" as a response to asking an elderly citizen how they are feeling, Jennie explains that title of the books was inspired by the cultural norm of New Orleanais being buried above ground. The photos in the book demonstrate the overall theme that "in life, as in death, we will still be above ground in New Orleans," said Jennie.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Dr. Carl Robinson is a pediatrician and semi professional photographer, who has shared photos with many locals as gifts. He has been actively learning photography for the last 20 years, attending multiple workshops and seminars within the country. As a physician, he also published a baby care book in 1997 and is presently working on a second book with another pediatrician and nurse practitioner. He states that "the joy of recording and giving permanence to the beauty in nature and landscapes is what has led and continues to guide me to be a photographer."

Jennie Robinson started writing poetry as a teenager, and felt God talking to her since she was in her youth. As she became a nurse and began working in hospice, she continued to write and find the words to express "a good death." She now mostly writes papers and grants.
