Dr. Anntwanique D. Edwards Asks 'Where Is Thy Faith?' in New Book

Although written for adolescents and young adults, readers of every age have already proclaimed that "Where is Thy Faith?" (published by AuthorHouse), by author Dr. Anntwanique D. Edwards, uniquely challenges any age group as long as they are willing to listen. Using fictional stories that mirror real world issues experienced by many today, Edwards creates stories that challenge readers to critically think about the notion of faith today and how they should apply it to their situation.

"Each chapter identifies a fictional character whose faith is being tested by tragedies or hardships they are enduring as a teenager or young adult", states the author. The title of the book is an expression of the doubt youth and young adults exhibit when facing hardships. This book helps people see themselves in tragedy and causes them to consider how to obtain victory. One teenager says, "I couldn't put the book down...when I read about the suicide that was exactly like what I experienced when one of my friends took his life last year, I couldn't believe it...I told all my friends that they had to get this book." Another high school student said she was "surprised by the character that responded positively to negative things around her and even helped someone who hurt her." Edwards describes critical issues such as suicide, abuse, homosexuality, premarital sex, drug addiction, divorce, depression, academic disabilities and more. The author hopes to provide an opportunity to dialogue about issues that plague youth today. Although the framework for discussion is based upon the biblical principal of faith, much of the subject matter is not discussed in many churches. "Youth can identify themselves in the lives of the fictional characters because the problems are realistic and the emotions described are life-like. It is time that taboo subjects are addressed and dialogue among youth and adults takes place without the feeling of judgment. This is a tool designed to help those conversations take place without anyone flinching", she says.

About the Author
Anntwanique D. Edwards studied at the University of Florida, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology, master's in counselor education, education specialist in mental health counseling, master's in educational leadership and a doctorate in educational leadership with an emphasis in elementary and secondary administration. She worked as a mental health counselor, as well as a middle and high school guidance counselor, before serving in her current role as an assistant principal for the public school system.
