In "Double Deceit: A True Story of a Nigerian Scam" (published by Trafford Publishing), author Dr. Agnes Chambers-Glenn takes readers into the diary of a retired World Health Organization medical officer, Dr. Mashaal, who was deceived and bilked out of tens of thousands of dollars by Nigerian scammers.
Readers are invited into the world of an elderly doctor living in Canada. Here, they witness the doctor fall prey to a scam from Ghana which cost him almost 38 thousand dollars. The scam in question was purchasing forms to obtain money from Ghana. After months of paying for forms, the doctor caught on and contacted a detective.
Readers follow as the trap is set to catch the scammer's helper in the doctor's home while picking up the payoff. The trap works and the individual in question is arrested, and when the time is served, he is deported.
An excerpt from "Double Deceit":
"Having arrived at Dr. Mashaal's building entrance, I rang up and he opened the entrance security door for me. As I walked through the reception area to the elevator, there was a group of about five or six ladies standing, blocking the entrance to the elevators. I stopped for them to move over to allow me to pass. They seemed very excited. So I asked what had happened. One lady spoke up and said that a black man had just been taken out of here in handcuffs. I let him in a very short time ago but didn't realize it as he appeared to be accompanying a young man who had identified himself to me on my intercom camera."
"The doctor wants to expose how one can get drawn into such a scheme with promises," says Chambers-Glenn. "He wants the public to learn from his experience."
