Hoping to help individuals who are struggling with their weight and parents of seriously overweight children, author Doug Pedersen has penned "Tuna Breath: A 275-pound Teenager's Coming of Age Story" (published by Balboa Press) - a coming-of-age tale about his fight with childhood obesity and the emotions that continued to haunt him well into his young adult life.

"I chose to write about this topic in order to show readers how I continually improved my physical health and emotional self by finding and following my heart," says Pedersen. "I want them to know they can too."

Readers join Pedersen as he regales them with funny, poignant and generous snippets into the life of an overweight child. With each intimate insight given to readers, he offers advice that he has gleaned along his rocky road of self improvement. Readers are also given insight into the darker happenings of his life after losing an astonishing amount of weight - "Losing 125 pounds in 8 months was apparently easier to lose than 18 years of self-pity," says Pedersen. "Little did I know that I was still a binger at heart."

"'Tuna Breath' invites everyone to intimately observe my embarrassing mistakes in order to provide a metaphor for people to learn from. Others have said that it is very honest and the lessons to be learned are truly visceral and inspirational," says the author. "The book is not a 'how to;' it is a 'how I' and a 'can do!' message for readers. I want this book to stimulate, touch and entertain readers while leaving them with an incredible example of the heartfelt transformation one person can make."
