About the Author
Doris Thurston holds a B.S. in education from Tufts and a diploma in painting from Boston Museum School. She worked part-time as activity director for a nursing home while caring for her father. Thurston led and publicized a Stroke Support Group; founded and led "Heart Talk" Support Group; and received an award from the American Hearts Association for her contribution to circulatory diseases. She won the Jakeman Award for her poem "Stroke" at the State of Maine Writers Conference.
