Author Donna A. Lowery had a conversation with Precilla Wilkewitz, the co-founder of Vietnam Women Veterans, Inc. They talked about collecting the stories of the women who served in Vietnam who were not nurses. It is a largely overlooked segment of the Vietnam veterans. As a veteran herself, this inspired her to pen, "Women Vietnam Veterans" (published by AuthorHouse) as a tribute to the untold stories of the brave women who rendered their service during the Vietnam War.

This book chronicles the participation of American military women (other than nurses) who were stationed in the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. This little-known group of an estimated 1,000 women from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force left its mark in Vietnam from 1962 to 1973. Today's military women are serving in fields never previously imagined, thanks to the service of these few who were in Vietnam. Lowery believes that they deserve to have their stories told and to take their place in history.

Lowery recruited a 20-member project team to research, write and assemble all the bits and pieces to make this book a reality. Having worked on this book for several years, she feels strongly that the world needs to know more about the courageous women who willingly served this country in a combat zone at a time when it was not seen as an appropriate thing to do.

An enlightening and eye-opening read, "Women Vietnam Veterans" will be significant to historians and genealogists. It will also appeal to all military veterans, while the non-veterans will find the the true-life stories of dedication to duty, courage and willingness to tackle difficult and often dangerous tasks fascinating.
