Author Don Woodward wanted to write a simple book based in the area he grew up with and the result of which is "Waipuna," (published by Xlibris NZ) a fictional romantic adventure novel set in the breathtaking Manawatu-Wanganui region in New Zealand.
This book tells the story of Peter Murphy, a good looking 16-year-old young man who spends plenty of time in the bush and Barbara Plummer, also a stunning 16-year-old young woman who met secretly through the school holidays and their subsequent struggle to find each other. Their travels took them to South Africa, Rhodesia and Britain. Their families lived and worked in the lower North Island.
"This novel proves that love never ages," says Woodward. "It is different from other books like it by the way it was written."
"Waipuna" is an emotionally driven novel set to entertain readers both young and old. Woodward hopes they will be moved by the story of these young couples who, amidst the life challenges they both faced, still find each other and realize love and its true meaning.
