"Frustration often calls for desperation and when man takes the bait, fate better be on his side," author Dillon Marshall says in jest of the theme of his newly-released book. "Micah Jamison Didn't Do It," (published by Xlibris) an action-filled thriller, retelling a familiar story that prompts readers to reexamine the importance of deliberate decisions and evaluated thinking.
This book tells the story of Micah Jamison, a man driven by frustration to threaten used-car salesman Joe Sanders. Jamison, after losing a suit in court to obtain relief over a car deal gone sour, decides to try to scare the car salesman into either refunding his money or paying for the repairs. As luck would have it, fate breaks in at a critical point in the execution of his plan and despoils Micah's intentions. Through a most perverse alignment of circumstances, Sanders is killed in an unusually severe thunderstorm. Now, Jamison is left to suffer the consequences of his actions.
Speculative and insightful, "Micah Jamison Didn't Do It" exemplifies how rash decisions, coupled with bad fate, could unravel a hoard of deadly, unthinkable misfortunes. It calls into mind common stories of crime and violence that spiral out of control from unguarded emotions.
"Like Jamison, most of us have been on the short end of the stick at least once in our lives," says Marshall. "When the unthinkable happens, we find ourselves faced with difficult decisions. Still, we are not absolved from the ramifications of our actions. We are obliged to deal with new realities as they come along."
An excerpt from "Micah Jamison Didn't Do It":
"'Fate,' Crowley told himself, 'is dispassionate and harsh. A corrupt taskmaster that answers to no one. Not even to God.'"
