As a lover of mystery stories, author Diana Swanson has always wanted to write one. She sets herself a personal goal of writing and publishing a mystery novel and "Now You See Me, Now You Don't" (published by Xlibris) is the result of that personal challenge.

This book tells the story of Toni MacArthur, a young widow who, in deciding to begin a new life, takes a job as a junior high principal in a small town and finds that she has more challenges to face than she anticipated. There are bullying parents, teen drug use and a school superintendent who presses against her personal boundaries, a stalker and a dead body that turns up on her school's doorstep. As Toni faces these challenges, she discovers personal strengths she was unaware she possessed.

"This novel is about meeting the challenges of everyday life and the personal growth this requires," Swanson says. "The setting is a school and the exploration of the complications of that micro environment."

A retired educator, Swanson borrows from her experiences as a teacher, principal and college professor to create "Now You See Me, Now You Don't." Through this first novel, she hopes to provide readers with a better understanding of how the school system works, the danger of teen drug abuse and how to trust on one's instincts.
