Walker wrote the book to share what it was like for her to move into someone’s home who is not related to her. She conveys that she experienced a lot of different emotions while living there. Since she came from a dysfunctional background, she was hesitant to have to trust strangers with her life — physically and emotionally, and was very intimidated for a while. But she was grateful that her family reached out to her, a very hurting child then, and welcomed her in their home.
“I wanted the children who are facing similar challenges in their life to realize not all strangers are out to use and abuse you,” says Walker. “I was very blessed to be placed with these people. There are some unhealthy foster homes, but credit is to be given to the ones who opened their hearts and minds to the hurting children of the world.”

About the Author
Ella Walker was born into a military family. Her father was a retired army service member. Both of her parents were alcoholics. As a result of her mother’s drinking, Walker was born with health problems. She was born a month early, was just three pounds at birth, blue from a lack of oxygen and had a decease called Rickets. Because her bones were soft, she had to wear leg braces. Her father died when she was 7 years old and her mother died when she was 10 years old. Walker was then placed with various violent alcoholic relatives. Due to the physical abuse, she was diagnosed with grand mal seizures. She was removed from her relatives at age 14 and placed in foster care until she turned 18. She was married at age 20, divorced once and widowed once. Walker has two adult children, two grandchildren and a cat named Kai.
