David Wurtzebach Releases THE PARROT TAVERN

THE PARROT TAVERN, a 2-act play by David Wurtzebach, is a necessarily fictionalized (and often comic) rendering of the love triangle alluded to in Shakespeare's sonnets. The play's aim is to speak of Shakespeare as an otherwise normal man who also happened to be one of the world's great writers.

The play revolves around love and language. But as well, it seeks to pay homage to the power and the delight to be found in Shakespeare's words.

WILL (to Dark Lady): My love, there is no trick, no secret. Indeed, what particulars there are, they are few in number. One, you need to play your notes with spirit, with hope. To these two you need add whate'er wit, craft, feeling you can muster. There. Now you know. No? Well, yes. There is more. A key of sorts and, ay, one with magical power does exist. But it lies not with you, the player. It belongs to the other.

About the Author
David Wurtzebach is married and the father of three grown children. In the early 1980s, his novel Sizing Up Y found an agent but no publisher. After spending the last twenty-nine as an employee of the US Post Office, he is now retired.
