In a hilarious follow-up to his best-selling 2006 novel Punished!, David Lubar brings back fourth-graders Logan and Benedict for another misadventure. Numbed!, published by Millbrook Press, a division of Lerner Publishing Group, invites young readers to imagine life without math-and all the trouble it could cause.
When their class takes a trip to a math museum, Logan and his mischievous friend Benedict discover a robot and its creator in an off-limits area. After the robot zaps them, the boys notice something funny. They're not sure what time it will be in two hours. They can't measure ingredients for pancakes. They can't count money. They can't do math at all! To get back the knowledge they need for school-not to mention everyday tasks-they'll have to solve several math challenges back at the museum. Being "numbed" teaches Logan and Benedict just how useful, and even fun, math can be.
This inventive, humorous novel will make readers laugh as it highlights fascinating mathematical concepts and shows the importance of basic math skills in everyday life.
