"The Predicament: How did it happen? How bad is it? The case for radical change now!" will be published on April 15, 2013. Pre-publication copies will be forwarded to journalists, reviewers and university-level instructors upon request.
"The Predicament," dedicated to and written for the Millennial Generation by economist David L. Smith, explains how the present economic, financial and political dysfunctions emerged in the five decades following the relatively balanced and prosperous Eisenhower years. He reveals "where the bodies are buried," providing liberals with compelling rebuttals to extremist conservative memes, and makes the case for a radical change of direction to avoid further economic, financial and social deterioration; to restore the solvency, prosperity and contentment of the middle class; and to relieve the plight of the poor.
Identifying the root cause of The American Predicament as the hijacking of the democratic political process by a rich and powerful elite, Mr. Smith proposes a completely new democratic political process to bypass Big Money and television to re-dedicate the government to the service of We The People.
According to Smith, "The bottom line for the Millennials is that wealthy members of senior generations are living large and sending them the bill. Warren Buffet got it right when he said 'There's class warfare, all right, but it's my class, the rich class, that's making war and we're winning.'"
About David L. Smith (http://www.davidlsmith.com):
Born and raised in Perón's Argentina, and educated at Dartmouth and Stanford, David Smith experienced the period since the late 1950s as college student, naval officer in the Cuban Missile Crisis and in Vietnam; successful participant in the investment arena, becoming president and CEO of a national NASD-member firm; and for 25 years as a keynote speaker and newsletter writer on economic, financial and political themes. At heart a centrist, in "The Predicament" he narrates his intellectual Odyssey from William F. Buckley, Jr. conservative to ardent liberal as a counterbalance to the extremes witnessed on the left during the Peronist dictatorship and on the right during the Reagan and G.W. Bush administrations.
"The Predicament" will be available in April 2013 both in printed and e-book format through major online booksellers, with signed printed copies available at http://www.the-predicament.com. Journalists, print/online reviewers and university-level instructors may request complimentary pre-publication copies in either format. Mr. Smith is also available for radio interviews by telephone.
