David L. Chisling's 2009 historical fantasy, "General George Hannibal Busch: And the Search for the Little Big Oil Well" (published by Trafford Publishing), satirizes the United States' 2003 invasion of Iraq. It follows George Hannibal Busch, a wealthy, privileged son of an American president who later becomes a controversial president himself and wages war in the 22nd century, creating a comical parallel to events of the early 21st-century U.S. This year, Chisling's book will be featured in three television advertisements, in addition to a new press campaign.
Loosely based on the 18th-century General George Armstrong, General Busch wears three different uniforms to reflect his political ambition and anticipated legacy. Later, General Busch takes the middle name of the ancient general Hannibal after the climactic Battle of the Little Big Oil Well - a nod to General Custer's famous last stand - this time wearing Carthaginian battle dress while riding his Republican elephant into battle. General Busch is later promoted to supreme commander in Iraq, where he adopts the uniform and mannerisms of an arrogant Prussian field-marshal in order to prepare himself for U.S. presidency.
Filled with almost 60 cartoon illustrations and photos that map out a Hollywood-Nickelodeon production, as well as the serious nature of a not-so-serious war in the future mirroring thecurrent state of misguided bravery, Chisling's "General George Hannibal Busch" reveals how endless wars can be, how corrupt politicians can become, how clueless a government can be and how greedy and influential big business can become.

About the Author
David L. Chisling was born in 1957. He studied classical history in college. After he finished school, he led an adventurous life as a swashbuckler of the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines. Before the catastrophic years of the early 21st century's War on Terror, Chisling wrote a four-volume satire about university life. Five years after the 9/11 terrorist attack, he started writing "General George Hannibal Busch", a book of satire based on the Iraq War of 2003. He originally planned for the book to become a six-volume lampoon of the War on Terror. "General George Hannibal Busch" is Chisling's first published book.
