Notable science fiction writers David Gerrold, DC (Dorothy) Fontana and producer David C. Fein are attempting to make history by raising funds via Kickstarter to shoot and create their new science fiction adventure TV series "The Star Wolf." The producing team is using the unique crowd funding platform to pioneer their series into a reality and has set to raise $650,000 to finance their "The Star Wolf," and already have raised over $52,000 to date.

The project is garnering attention by notable Star Trek talent including Leonard Nimoy who said, "David Gerrold and Dorothy Fontana gave us some of the best writing we ever had on the original Star Trek series. I, for one, will be eagerly looking forward to see what their creativity will offer us on 'The Star Wolf.'"

Additionally Bill Prady, Executive Producer of The Big Bang Theory said, "When I began my career, everything I knew about how television was written and produced came from David Gerrold's books. I can think of no one more deserving of the chance to pilot a TV series."

"'The Star Wolf,' is one of the most exciting ideas in film science fiction adventure to come along in ages. The characters are fresh, believable and make you root for them. The situations are believable, but also creative and firmly anchored in the science fiction world of storytelling. I'm looking forward to being involved in that world, telling those stories and following those characters to new places and new adventures not seen before on television or on the web," said DC Fontana.

The series also features original Star Trek cast member Nichelle Nichols, involvement as the recurring "Admiral O'Hara," and has been endorsed by Kerry O'Quinn, science fiction authority and former publisher of Starlog magazine.

"Few humans know more about space and the challenges that await us in the Final Frontier than David Gerrold. Challenges either defeat us or transform us into heroes, and David knows a great deal about how "horrible events bring heroes out hiding," said Kerry O'Quinn, co-creator of Starlog, Fangoria, Cinemagic, Future Life and Comics Scene magazines. "The visuals and designs for this show look wonderful, and I hope we all get to enjoy seeing THE STAR WOLF come to life soon. The planet Earth is in desperate need of thrilling and uplifting adventures. May this show live long and...oh, you know the rest."

"Fans were able to take creative power into their own hands to make the 'Veronica Mars,' movie happen, and now they are making 'The Star Wolf,' happen too," said Chase Masterson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and TV Guide Favorite Science Fiction Actress on Television.)

"We really would like to move the needle in how TV series are made and welcome the opportunity to give our crowd-funding community the ability to be a part of this series with remarkable access to our production every step of the way," said Executive Producer David C. Fein.

The new science fiction adventure series, based-upon Gerrold's best-selling "The Star Wolf" book series is about a crew of regular people caught up in an interplanetary war between the human race and the animalistic Morthans.

Gerrold, who is best known for writing the iconic Star Trek episode "The Trouble With Tribbles," says of the new show, "We're finally going to make the show I've been dreaming about for years; a show that is compelling, thought provoking and bold enough to take on the real emotional issues of war."

Kickstarter is primarily used by artists seeking backing for independent film and music productions. The producers are offering pledge prizes from the production ranging from a PDF of the first episode script and an invitation to watch the pilot online for $10 to a cameo in the series. Donation levels also include an opportunity to name a character in the series, a digital copy of the finished pilot, a screening of the work-in-progress version, set visits during filming and more.
