It was, no doubt, a cynic and a naysayer who coined the phrase, "death by committee." The eye-rolling and huffing inherent in the announcement that a project "needs approval from the directors of such-and-such departments" are not entirely without merit, but given the popularity of the phrase, "death by committee" may actually be a self-inflicted catch 22. Today, leadership veteran, David B. Savage, released Break Through to Yes: Unlocking the Possible within a Culture of Collaboration, with the goal of reshaping the concept of collaboration beyond its current buzzword status.

In his forty-plus years of organizational leadership, Savage has witnessed billion-dollar successes and equal failures. These inspired him to devote his life and profession to helping businesses and leaders avoid unseen pitfalls. Through his professional network and his service as the founder and President of several consulting organizations, Savage brought together over one hundred experts from virtually every industry to create not only a very timely and applicable business book, but a method and movement that he hopes will change the idea of collaboration across the globe.

When most people say the word "collaborate," they don't mean what Savage means. Often, they use it to create a certain impression, as if to say, "Look at me, I'm a team player." In his ten-step process to building a culture of collaboration, the actual gathering of people doesn't happen until step six, because a lot is required of leaders to really cultivate that culture.

Savage starts, instead, with declaring intentions honestly, engaging others with an open heart, and embracing conflict - skills that many leaders hire for, but do not practice themselves. These, and the steps that follow, serve as the centerpiece for Break Through to Yes, but Savage includes many other effective collaboration tools, such as "The Number One Reason Collaboration Fails," "Why Collaboration is Misunderstood," and "An Assessment for Your Organization."

Released today in all major bookstores and online retailers, Break Through to Yes: Unlocking the Possible within a Culture of Collaboration is set to become the resource book for leaders and teams that choose to work together better.
