Aiming to combat boring Christmas newsletters, author David Alan Hoag blurred the lines between the reality people experience and the dramatic fiction they often feel to be overwhelming them around the Holidays. "Sharing Christmas" (published by Xlibris) is his collection of original Christmas-themed writings, Christmas songs, Christmas cards, and Christmas-themed poetry that took form over the years.

The book is about Christmas, but that subject encompasses everything from the commercial to the holy, the historic to the hysterical, and the presents humans give to the presence of God they can receive. Hoag started out with simple notes that he enclosed in commercial Christmas cards to his closest friends. Eventually, it evolved over the years into self-designed cards, which became very popular. The cards were printed in such a way that produces a Christmas card after two successive folds of the paper. For the most part, there was usually a picture or graphic on the front accompanied by the author's song or poem in the middle with a blessing.

"In today's society, Christmas is rapidly being perceived as a commercial or retail buying and selling season," Hoag says. "Now, more than ever, the world needs to hear the message of love, peace, joy, forgiveness, and salvation... that is the real message of Christmas."

"Sharing Christmas" perfectly captures the spirit of the Yuletide Season through original poetry, songs, cards and a labor of love.
