More than 200 schools across California are using Dave Ramsey's "Foundations in Personal Finance" curriculum to teach students how to better manage their finances so they can have a solid financial future.
Laura Schlottman, teacher at Magnolia Public Schools in Los Angeles, Calif., has been helping her students discover the value of financial literacy. Her students have learned valuable lessons on budgeting, staying out of debt and investing in their future so that they can better transition into the post-high school world.
"Too many young people are in debt and too many people are broke! I want to see that change in the community that I serve," said Schlottman. "I'd like to see my students take personal responsibility in their budgeting and their retirement plans."
Through Dave Ramsey's Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum, more than 1.5 million students have gained valuable, common sense knowledge that will help guide them into sound financial decision making in adulthood. Ramsey created Foundations in Personal Finance so high school students could learn more about the basics of money, like saving for emergencies, the difference between debit and credit cards, and student loans in a fun, easy to understand format. Students also learn valuable skills for their future like resume writing, investing for retirement and choosing the right types of insurance.
Foundations in Personal Finance is a turnkey curriculum that meets standards and benchmarks in all fifty states and Jump$tart national standards. It is also available in an eText format for tablets and desktops, and as a full online option with Learning Management System integration.
