In this combined autobiography-biography, Ellawese Darden, or as Coston calls her, "Mommy," imparts her own story. It all starts in 1929 in Jacksonville, Georgia, with a challenging early childhood that temporarily forced her family apart. They eventually reunited in Pennsylvania, and Darden chronicles a coming-of-age journey filled with bullying, heartache and the abandonment of her mother when she was 18. As she matured into womanhood, Darden discloses how she learned to lean on her faith to find joy in everyday life while bravely facing hardship. At 88 years old today, she has a strong drive to continue to live and speak life to others.
By sharing her mother's story, Coston wants readers "to be inspired and encouraged as they face difficult times and to smell the beautiful roses throughout the journey."
