Author Danielle Morrison's 2005 children's book, "Day to Night: An Owl's Tale" (published by Trafford Publishing), has been selected for inclusion in the Gold Seal program, in recognition of its excellence in writing and overall potential.

Written in rhythmic style, "Day to Night" is narrated by a wise old owl who is telling the story of how day becomes night. Readers follow the owl on his journey to see all the animals who are active during the day and then the ones that are active at night.

In addition to the animals that owl introduces the readers to - such as rabbits, koalas and sugar gliders - little hidden objects also appear in the illustrations, such as fairies, spiders and caterpillars. These hiding creatures make a fun game to see how observant readers are.

"I believe my book will open a doorway to readers' imaginations, which will allow them to create their own hidden characters in their own stories," Morrison says.

An excerpt from "Day to Night":

"Out comes the old wise owl, he tells his story of how.
How day becomes night.
'Hoot hoot' he says.
Goodnight day hello night."
