"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves," said Viktor E. Frankl, author of "Man's Search for Meaning."

When Daniel Nelson's son, Chris, was diagnosed with stage four melanoma, both were faced with a situation they could not change. Instead of giving up, Nelson and his son sought an opportunity to embrace life and understand its meaning.

During this father and son spiritual journey, Nelson learned from Chris' courage and inspirational Christian behavior that was shown in his last days. Chris' ability to accept his situation and positive outlook on life inspired Nelson's new book, "Two Journeys." It shares Chris' story and the journey they both went on in search of meaning and hope in the midst of their suffering.

"Chris knew that his condition was terminal and that his time to leave this world was approaching rapidly," Nelson said. "Yet, he took every opportunity that presented itself each and every day to find meaning and purpose in his life."

Suffering is an inevitable part of life, but the way we choose to respond makes all the difference. Nelson shares Chris' and his understanding of suffering, forgiveness, and the power of prayer to help those suffering find hope.
