"I have had many great experiences practicing medicine," Daniel M. Avery, M.D., shares. Avery writes of his adventures through healthcare in his humorous new memoir, "Tales of a Country Obstetrician" (published by iUniverse). "Writing this book has allowed me to relive many of my experiences with patients. Most physicians have stories to tell but never write them down and subsequently regret not doing so."

"Tales of a Country Obstetrician" begins with Avery's exposure to the human body while working in a funeral home around autopsies, anatomy and pathology. It continues through medical school, residency training, practicing in rural Alabama and eventually teaching.

Avery writes a number of humorous stories, from calling the university to tow away an illegally parked recreation vehicle belonging to the dean of the medical school to a female resident asking if she could borrow a pair of underwear after delivering a baby.

"These stories have defined me as a physician. I am honored to have been a part of my patients' lives."
