In "A Yooper's Summer on Isle Royale" (published by iUniverse), Dan Kemp's new novel, readers tag along while two young friends set off on an unforgettable adventure. By summer's end, the boys, and the island where they leave their mark, will be changed forever.

Digger and Wayne, residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula - colloquially known as Yoopers - begin a harrowing adventure by taking their rowboat far across the deep, blue waters of Lake Superior. Their destination is Isle Royale. Upon arrival, they quickly find trouble when National Park Ranger Robert Davies places them under close surveillance, but the boys were prepared for trouble. By the end of the summer, these best pals have broken every rule in the book, having the time of their lives on a little island that feels just like paradise.

An excerpt from "A Yooper's Summer on Isle Royale":

"I timed our departure close to sundown. As we made our way to Scoville Point, the sun was setting behind us and the moon was rising in front of us. The moon was full, there was no wind, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and it was relatively warm. If you can't fall in love under these conditions with the prettiest, smartest woman you ever met, you aren't capable."

Kemp has included something for everyone in his book, including humor, romance, daring stunts, and a few tear-jerking scenes. "'A Yooper's Summer on Isle Royale' will make you laugh and feel good, which is most needed today," he says. "It is set in a time of innocence and a one-of-a-kind place that will take older people back to better times and give younger ones a glimpse into what was."
