The science fiction novel charts the story of a 14-year-old boy who was kidnapped to become a military experiment so the government could control the elements. The experiment ultimately fails, and the boy is taken back to Washington where they can keep an eye on him. Eventually, he comes across plans of a new force rising in the Middle East, threatening the world, but the government does nothing, so the boy takes matters into his own hands.
Reutlinger explains that the book’s exploration of political issues follows very closely with what is currently happening in the society. Ultimately, he hopes to provide the readers a good story that will compel them to ask for more.
