Author D.L. Stalnaker's debut Christian novel "Jobella: A Story of Loss and Redemption: Women of God: Book 1" (published by WestBow Press) is a modern day story of Job. Jobella is a young Christian woman, weeks away from graduating high school, when she loses everything that she loves.
"I've always enjoyed the book of Job in the Bible and thought that it would be a good story to use as a base for a modern day story of loss and redemption," Stalnaker says. "It is something that young adults could read and be inspired to look to God for the tough question of why bad things happen to good people. As a Christian and a writer, my goal is to use that gift from God to inspire other people to seek a relationship to Christ."
An excerpt from "Jobella: A Story of Loss and Redemption":
"He knows the wickedness in our hearts and in our thoughts, but if you will prepare your heart and reach out to him, he will forgive you. Don't dwell on the evil that has happened. Remove all that bitterness and thoughts about God punishing you, and about your uncle's attack, and about your parent's death and maybe then you will be able to talk with God again and stand again without fear and hate."
