LOS ANGELES

In his new fictional novel, "Tears of an Assassin" (published by Xlibris), DJ Power crafts a riveting story about a young man joining the Marine Corps and achieving a goal no else has ever done. He is later assigned by the CIA to do "missions" that he morally has problems with, affecting his religious upbringing and his past.

Readers follow Jim Coleman, a young man without any clue on what to do with his life. On a whim, he decides to join the U.S. Marine Corps in 1962 and makes history by shooting perfect at Parris Island becoming the only Marine ever to accomplish this feat. Little does he know that this achievement will unknowingly change his life forever.

He later meets U.S. Naval Officer, Commander Forrest Damon, who is the military liaison with the CIA in Washington who rewards Jim with a classified new opportunity based on his skill as a marksman. Jim's world changes as he goes on temporary duty with the CIA, joining the most elite section only known by the most powerful and influential men in the government.

Not knowing what the CIA has in mind for him, he is sent on location in some of the hottest flashpoints of the turbulent 1960s. From Southeast Asia to the Caribbean as well as being surrounded by the underworld in the Deep South, Jim finds himself at an internal struggle with his personal faith and the commitment to his work. Readers follow as Jim tries to fight his demons, but this task becomes more difficult as every assignment drives him farther away from the man that he once was and closer to a man who he no longer recognizes.

"No matter what someone is taught to believe, there are times in your life that you must decide between faith and duty," author Power points out. Action-fueled, insightful and stirring, this is a story that reveals the crushing gravity of making such decisions.
