The media is filled with stories of America's polarizing and outspoken political candidates, but can these single figures really change our country that much?

Mark Salvi's Day of the Dog sees a future that may come to pass.

In Day of the Dog, the United States is brought to its knees after racial tensions, terrorist attacks and delayed political decisions cripple the nation. Two groups of survivors must work to rescue the U.S. from chaos and restore order.

"It's important to consider how the political decisions we make today will affect our future," Salvi said. "The events in this book may not be too far away from happening."

Salvi, a U.S. Navy veteran, world traveler and survivalist, sees the potential for today's political decisions and political correctness to adversely affect the future.

"I've been watching the world and our country change," Salvi said. "It has not been changing for the better for the average American citizen, and we need the people to stay informed about what is going on around us, in our country and other parts of the world."
