QUOGUE, N.Y., Aug. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire-iReach/ If you are interested in an entertaining read that will make you smile, make you think and perhaps make you consider a cosmetic procedure, then Marilyn Gottlieb's new novel, Dance Me Younger, is for you. The book raises the question: After the kids leave and the wrinkles arrive, after a career is over and the fantasies take its place, what's a lady to do? Gottlieb's response is a fictional, humorous, tale that shows the need to be validated at any age. Her novel pokes fun at growing older and provides some much-needed laughter.
Susan Kendall, a middle-aged woman who is faced with the loss of her glamorous job in a Manhattan ad agency, her fading good looks and the boredom of a 30-year marriage to a famous plastic surgeon, flies to Italy on a whim. Desperate to recapture what she fears she has lost, she encourages the flirtations of a young Italian professor and an urbane, handsome wiater.
When asked if this is her story, Gottlieb replied, "Oh my goodness, no. This book features a blend of people with personality flaws that represent many of us. The only similarities to my life are that I worked at an ad agency and my deceased mom provides advice in my head. I bet yours does, too. I call the advice Momisms and I welcome hearing the guidance your mom shared."
Marilyn Gottlieb started her writing career in the mind 1970's with comedy columns in Dan's Papers on Long Island, NY. Since that gentle beginning, she published numerous articles in magazines and literary journals and was a vice president and senior vice president at two multi billion dollar international advertising agencies. Simultaneously, she was an adjunct professor at the New School University in Manhattan.
Inducted into the YWCA's prestigious Academy of Women Achievers, she also was a member of the Board of Advertising Women of New York. She attended Skidmore College and earned an MA from New York University and an MFA in Writing and Literature from Stony Brook Southampton.
Her first book, Life with an Accent (2013), is an historical biography that reminds readers that our nation has been built upon the success of many refugees. The young adult version, illustrating the impact of ouside events on our lives, debuted in early 2016 and is scheduled to be published in Israel in November of this year.
