Cynthia Redfern's new memoir "Seasons of the Soul: A Memoir" (published by iUniverse), now enjoying a renewed marketing effort, is about how she first lost, and then found, her sense of identity after her husband's death. "This book is my life," she says, "the results of paths taken or not taken."

Full of vivid detail, "Seasons of the Soul" shares Redfern's unusual life story. It illustrates Redfern's determination to keep her integrity intact despite life's many challenges. In a conversational style, she relates her childhood, remembering her grandfather, the boy she befriended at age 6 - a friendship that lasted 64 years - and the house she lived in for nearly 20 years.

An excerpt from "Seasons of the Soul":

"The baby pig came running out of the bathroom and immediately jumped onto the started social worker's lap. David made a grab for the pig, I threw my arms up in despair and the children all laughed hysterically."

Redfern knows the appeal of her book will be its authenticity. "It is completely uncontrived," she says. "It tells of my life just as it was, without need for sensationalism or bending facts to make them more interesting."
