After receiving numerous messages from readers clamoring for another book to continue where "Unstrung: A Blanchard House Mystery" left off, author Cynthia Morrow heeded their call and created another book. "Domestic Violins: A Blanchard House Mystery" (published by iUniverse) is the second book in the new series.
Althea Stewart and Grace Sullivan, professional musicians who own a string teaching studio in Kirkland, Wash., throw a memorial party for a late, great violinist. But, their day turns sour when a riot explodes. When the dust settles, a Russian chef is found murdered. As clues are put together, an odd group of party guests must weed out who is guilty and who is not: the Russian mob, a determined young stripper, the musicians who came to Blanchard House for the funeral, the victim's long-suffering family, Interpol and the sexy Kirkland police detective Harry Demetrious, who has Althea's heart racing just a bit faster. Will this odd assortment of individuals be able to put their disagreements behind them and find the killer before it is too late?
An excerpt from "Domestic Violins":
"It always gives me a thrill when the opportunity arises to observe my fellow musicians in the presence of large quantities of food. There are rarely any of those annoying discussions concerning calories or carbs at moments like these. We professional music makers have always prided ourselves on being unusually sound on the concept of free chow. We are not easily put off our feed by small distractions such as riots or world wars."
"I want to promote an understanding of the world of classical musicians who toil longer and harder than the public might imagine to make a living at what they love," says Morrow.
