Crowdfunding expert Kendall Almerico, CEO of crowd funding website http://www.ClickStartMe.com recently commented on a film being crowdfunded about controversial fugitive Edward Snowden's experience as an NSA whistleblower. Crowd funding expert Almerico says that two filmmakers have launched a $1.7 million crowdfunding project to finance a two-hour feature length film will follow Snowden's life, from his desire to join the U.S. army through to his career in the government.

"The Edward Snowden story is one that has captivated Americans and people around the world," crowdfunding expert Kendall Almerico said. "Because of the high interest in his story, this crowdfunding project has a chance to be funded and help make the movie."

Crowd-funding expert Almerico notes that the filmmakers chose crowdfunding rather than conventional big studio financing so they could retain control over the content of the film. "Given the controversial nature of the Edward Snowden story, it is unlikely any filmmaker could get a big studio to give them free reign to tell the story their own way," Almerico says. "If they successfully raise the money they need to crowd fund the film, these filmmakers will be able to make the film the way they want, without intrusion from the people who run the big studios."

Almerico notes that the filmmakers plan to release their Edward Snowden movie online and distribute it for free on the controversial website The Pirate Bay, a torrent website that has been involved in many copyright lawsuits. "If not for crowdfunding, a film like this could never be made the way the filmmakers want to make it," crowd-funding expert Kendall Almerico says. "Good luck getting financing from traditional sources to make a movie that will not be distributed for profit. It would never happen."
