Wanting to bring awareness to the "healing arts," Hansen Highland wrote her debut novel, "Crossing the Threshold: Based on a True Story A Healer Revealed" (published by Balboa Press). Based on a true story, the book follows one woman's spiritual odyssey after being mentored by a medium.
The tale - set in the San Francisco Bay Area - is based on energy healing, the paranormal and the metaphysical. "Crossing the Threshold" follows Elizabeth Warren on her journey learning to embrace her authentic self. Emily Gordon, Elizabeth's mentor and teacher, helps her overcome fears and insecurities.
"Searching for one's true self is part of the human condition," Highland says when speaking of her book's appeal to readers.
An excerpt from "Crossing the Threshold":
And so it began. Elizabeth purchased the lavender essential oil, bought a small print with a picture of Jesus on it, and booked a reading with Emily. It all happened so fast.
