Author Clark Selby continues the fictionalized saga of his life and love in his new book, "The Power of Love" (published by Trafford Publishing).
In 2005, Selby published "Together Forever" which was based on the story of his love with his first wife. Going by the name Chance, and giving his wife the name Ann, Selby told of the love they found at 16 and the lives they spent together. "The Power of Love" tells the story of the struggles Chance endured after Ann was paralyzed, and how, after her death, he was eventually able to find love again.
When Ann became paralyzed, Chance became her full-time caregiver. He learned to care for her and took her from doctor to doctor, trying to find a way to keep her alive. He finally found doctors who were able to stabilize her condition, stop her disease from progressing and afford them a semblance of a normal life together. Then, without warning, Ann suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and passed away.
Chance was alone and lost without Ann, but he found hope where there was none in a good friend who had lost her husband more than 18 years before Ann passed away. Susan had vowed to never date or get married again; never again did she want to experience the anguish of losing love. However, together Susan and Chance discover the power of love is enough to let them love again and begin a new life together.
"Love gives people the strength to do things they never thought they could," Selby says, "such as become caregivers for their loved ones and then find a way to recover and be able to love again."
