Compelling and inspiring, Going To America shares the journey of one man as he struggles to attain a higher education in a country located halfway across the globe. An insightful tale about strength and determination, this work is written by author Chuka Clement Ndubizu based on his true experiences. Presented in a third-person voice so as to put emphasis on the story instead of the author, this book offers a myriad of eye-opening revelations that will bring out various emotions from the readers.
The long-coveted American Dream of many individuals turned into a reality for one persevering man as he fought his way towards obtaining a higher education in the United States. One of the dreams of Chika, a man from Nigeria, was to go to an Ivy-League University in America. With the help of Tom, his brother, he pursued his goal, amidst the conflict in his own country. Overcoming what most people would have given up on, he earned several educational attainments in a foreign land. Despite racial injustice, cultural shock, deprivation and ill-health, he was able to rise above the seemingly never-ending challenges he constantly faced. Today, he shares his success to readers in order to send them the vital message that with hard work and perseverance, one can indeed reach his full potential.
Introducing readers to the struggles not only by immigrants but also by those who were enmeshed in the Nigeria/ Biafra war, this new book reveals the trials and tribulations of a young Igbo man who wished for a better life and triumphed. Uplifting and highly engaging, Going To America is a literary beacon of hope, illustrating how the strongest steel goes through the hottest fire.
