It was just announced by The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to Christine Devine has selected Wednesday's Child (http://wednesdayschild.adopt.org/) to receive the Governor's Award. It is THE single most prestigious award at the News Emmys.

Christine Devine is a 14-time Emmy Award winning news anchor in Los Angeles. A noted adoption advocate through the Freddie Mac Foundation's WednesdaysTM Child, Devine was honored with the Congressional Coalition "Angels in Adoption" award. Christine feels so honored to accept it on behalf of Wednesdays Child in the hopes that it brings more attention to our kids! Since the announcement, Verizon called to send one of their kids to Lakers Camp; HGTV called to decorate a room for one of their adopted kids; KLAC radio took 500 families to a Dodger game; and JC Penney gave two teens a new $800 wardrobe. It is hoped that an honor like the Governor's Award will only bring more gifts like this for the children.

In addition, The Freddie Mac Foundation's Wednesday's Child program is receiving the NATIONAL Congressional Coalition's Angel's in Adoption Award in DC in October. Only a few select, like Laura Bush and Muhammad Ali, have received the NATIONAL honor.

Wednesdays Child has many plans and events scheduled for the near future, among them are a Wednesday's Child reunion on July 30th, the Emmys/Governors Award on August 6th, the National Congressional Award will be presented to Christine on behalf of Wednesday's Child in early October and, of course, November is National Adoption Month.

Christine's overall goal has been and is to bring attention to the kids and plight of all children in foster care by being an example of overcoming the odds and recognizing ways we can all serve. As part of that effort, she self-publishing a new book entitled "Finding A Forever Family" (Intermedia Publishing Group and IMPRBooks.com). The overall story, is her journey through the world of foster care and adoption, before Wednesday's Child and how Wednesday's Child changed her life. "People say 'you do so much for the kids," says Christine ... "if only they knew how much the kids did for me!"

In this moving memoir, anchorwoman Christine Devine shares her fifteen-year journey reporting on children "in the system" and the families who adopt them. Christine is in the know as her own parents fostered and adopted. An estimated 500 children who've aired on her newscast have found forever families. She speaks from her heart on the struggles, disappointments and doubt that can come with children who've been so traumatized. Through Finding a Forever Family, see how Christine is transformed by these amazing adoptive families who share their unmatched joys, unexpected rewards and life-changing lessons.
