Everyone's heart has a vacuum that only God can fill, and everyone will experience a trial at sometime in their lives. Connie Hinks Porcher's book, "Jesus Christ is my Heartmender" expresses the love in her heart for people through poetry, which is also her way of encouraging them along in their journey in life, and to share with them how they have encouraged her as well.
Through her work, Porcher shows her readers that Jesus Christ loves them, for He is the mender of broken hearts. Whether they are going through a storm or experiencing His blessings, it is all a part of His plan in their lives. He has the power to give them hope and a future beyond this earthly life. No one else can do this, and this is what Porcher seeks to convey through her writing, to point readers to the direction of the Master Heartmender, who can bring solace to them even in the direst hour.
"These are messages from my heart to the hearts of others. It took courage to open up my heart and reveal my own struggles, but by doing so I'm praying others will have that courage also, and in it find release from some of the pain we each carry. And also maybe it will bring encouragement, laughter and happiness and just brighten their day," Porcher says.
There are those who are hurting today in so many ways. This book will point them to the only one who has the answers to life's difficult trials. Porcher shows them where she discovered the answers to her questions, namely in the Bible, and who to turn to when they seek for reason, purpose and meaning in their lives. Through this, they will be able to "bloom where they are planted" and become encouragers in their own spheres of influence, helping those around them in their own life journeys.

She came to know the Lord as her Savior at the age of 22. Faith, family, and friends are important to Porcher. Dealing with life's challenges has only served to fortify her faith and make her heart increasingly tender towards others who struggle and hurt. She has felt led to reach out to women with hurting hearts, because Jesus Christ is continuing to heal her own. Her life is continually enriched by the love of 10 grandchildren and one beautiful great-granddaughter. She creatively takes things once thought useless and turn them into something worth treasuring and sees that same potential in people who are broken and hurting and reaches out to them with the love of Christ.
