John Repp underscores the fact that many animals are at risk of becoming extinct due to man-made pollution and encroachment of people on the land where animals thrive. In his new book "John, Robert and the Horseshoe Crab" (published by Xlibris), his story shows love of nature and teaches about things that children may not be aware of.

This story follows John and Robert, two boys who have saved a horseshoe crab. They talk about plastic and styrofoam and how bad it is for the environment. The story shows the importance of teamwork and how life is full of surprises. It is also about sharing, respect and care for each other.

"I wanted to share with children and the community how important it is to protect our environment and to preserve and protect the living creatures other than ourselves. I wanted to show compassion towards animals."

An excerpt from this book:
John: "Okay. You know my father told me once that sometimes people throw food from their car windows. He said that is bad because the animals come close to the roads to eat the food and then it increases their chances of getting struck by a car and getting killed."
Robert: "I know. It is very sad. I would never do that. Someone once told me that plastic and Styrofoam cups are bad."
John: "Why is that?
Robert: "…because plastic does not break down into the soil and Styrofoam doesn't either. They are both bad for the environment and wildlife. My father told me."

Through this book, Repp reminds readers to be more mindful of the environment and to protect or save animals whenever or wherever possible.

About the Author
As John Repp was growing up in a small suburban town on Long Island, he did not read much and as a result, did not develop his writing skills. It was only after he attended college and majored in 18th and 19th century English literature that he was inspired to learn and to grow as a writer and his literary and writing skills improved dramatically. His appreciation for creative writing continues today and has become a very personal and gratifying pursuit.
