Author Peter J. Clark announced via his website http://www.peterjclark.com the establishment of a Kickstarter project to support the release of his second children's book, Sapphire's Castle. The book features female heroine, Sapphire, and her friend Archer, who battle a two-headed dragon right in Sapphire's backyard. The 32-page illustrated, full-color book shows that a little teamwork and a big imagination can go a long way in backyard adventuring.
Sapphire's Castle is the follow-up to Clark's debut children's book, The Mighty Knights, which is available on Amazon.
"I decided to write Sapphire's Castle after searching for a children's book with a strong female main character for my three children. I wanted a book with a strong female main character that was out on an adventure. After visiting the bookstore and library, I realized there were not enough children's picture books where the main character is female," Clark stated.
Clark went on to say, "I discovered that having a female main character, particularly minority female main characters, has been lacking in kid books today."
After struggling with dyslexia during his own childhood, Peter credits his love of books, filled with dragons and heroes, as a big reason why he overcame his disability and went on to earn a master's degree in Education.
"Books are important to me. It is because of fun exciting books that I was able to maintain focus in order to learn to read. Sapphire's Castle will keep kids engaged in the story and start them on the path to literacy," Clark concluded.
