Cheryl Jost Shares Story of Life Living With 'The Silent Syndrome' Image With a strong desire to educate the public about Turner Syndrome (TS) and share what it was like growing up with TS, Cheryl Jost penned "The Silent Syndrome" (published by Xlibris). Readers may visit https://www.amazon.com/Silent-Syndrome-Cheryl-Jost/dp/1543466109/ to know more about the book.

In the book, Jost takes readers through the different stages of life living with TS and describes what to expect. She shares her personal stories along the journey for each age group of development. She also provides a unique perspective of her being a mother of a TS child and a TS individual.

"(My book) will appeal to families with TS girls and the medical community searching for information about TS because it offers hope and inspiration," Jost expresses. "There is a great need for accurate information and this book has that and a special viewpoint that no one else would be able to present."

With the book, Jost also raises awareness and understanding on the importance of acceptance of TS girls and individuals with any disability in the society. She points out some of the negative stereotypes associated with TS and tries to bring sensitivity to them.

The book will also offer a wide range of medical and support resources, and offer hope and inspiration to newly diagnosed families who think they are out there all alone raising their TS daughter.

About the Author
Cheryl Jost was born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1960. She was diagnosed with Turner Syndrome (TS) in 1971. Her family moved to St. Louis when her father's job transferred him there in 1970. This allowed her access to a dependable health care system through Washington University of St. Louis. After years of dealing with height issues (growth hormones were not available in 1971) and estrogen replacement during those difficult teenage years, it led her to want to meet others with TS. She is an active member in the St. Louis TS support group and was on the Board of Directors for the national Turner Syndrome Society of the United States. Being open and honest about her diagnosis has given her an opportunity to meet people and travel the U.S. and abroad to help educate the public about TS. It has allowed her to speak at the Canadian TS Conference and to medical students at St. Louis University Medical School of Medicine. She received her bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University. Jost is married, and has two adopted children (one domestic private adoption and one international adoption of a TS girl from Bulgaria). "The Silent Syndrome" is her autobiography.
