Cherita Ford, a dedicated author and family woman, has completed her new book "Leo - A Different World": an action-packed children's story that tackles the complexities of being born with a difference through the use of fierce, family-oriented lions as characters.

Ford teams with her illustrator to provide young readers with a setting in which lions speak in voices that can be understood and play out actions that lead to the meaningful conclusion of the story. "These lions discover being different on the outside can make you still the same on the inside."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Cherita Ford's creative tale begins with the birth of Leo, an all black lion born to a pride in Africa that only harbors tan lions. His peculiar color becomes a point of contention, creating a burning desire in the males of the neighboring prides to kill the strange cub as well as further driving a wedge between his father, Lucas, and his uncle, Dami.

Insisting that Lucas and his pride lack the essential courage and ferocity necessary to protect such an endangered being, Dami takes Leo on as his own son and raises him with the ideals of bravery and stoicism that are the founding principles of his group.

As Leo grows, threats on his life, the existence of his biological father in the background, and the arrival of a young female admirer named Siberian on the scene roll together with the darkness of his coat to create a complex existence. When his rivalry with the other adolescent males in his pride results in a horrible tragedy, Leo is forced to consider the meaning of family and bravery.

Readers who wish to experience this inspiring work can purchase "Leo- A Different World" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
