Charles W. Pearce Releases KIRSTY: A FATHER'S FIGHT FOR JUSTICE

Author Charles W. Pearce reflects on the untimely and preventable death of his daughter in his new memoir, "Kirsty: A Father's Fight for Justice" (published by iUniverse).

When Kirsty Jayne Pearce was born, she weighed just three pounds and 12 ounces. She began putting on weight and her parents fears of losing her were assuaged, but Kirsty would struggle with medical issues for the next 17 years until her death in 2003.

Pearce chronicles his daughter's life from her birth, through her day-to-day battles to the last days of her life. However, the story doesn't end with Kirsty's death as Pearce and his wife, both trained nurses, begin to explore the causes for his daughter's death. Pearce comes to believe Kirsty's death could have been stopped by the doctors and nurses who tended to her.

"There is always the danger of death by indifference in our medical society," Pearce says, "as there was with Kirsty. These mistakes can be stopped if people do their absolute best when caring for others."

Pearce supplies readers with a loving vision of his daughter as well as documentation meant to show the mistakes made by those trusted with her care.
