Milton Keynes, England
Author Catie Maye, a heterosexual male-to-female cross dresser who identifies as "she," vividly remembers the day her mother caught her dressing in her sister's clothes at the age of 9. "This singular event would set me on a path that even today is fundamental in my everyday life," she recalls.
In her new compelling book, "Men Can Wear Dresses Too" (published by AuthorHouse), Maye presents a salacious, uninhibited account of her journey to reconcile her inner-self with her innate desire to wear women's clothing.
More than just a memoir, "Men Can Wear Dresses Too" includes surveys and scientific data to create an accurate depiction of cross dressing. Maye uses key transgender survey data collected over the last 40 years to disprove common misconceptions about cross dressing.
Through her book, Maye offers support for other cross dressers. She hopes her efforts will lead to acceptance and understanding between cross dressers and others in their communities.
"Everybody has the right to be different," Maye believes. "Those men who cross dress are just exercising their right to be different. To fully understand and therefore fully accept cross dressing, we must carry out more research, provide more support and through information show compassion and tolerance to a dysphoria which will only become more significant over the coming generations."
