While working in a juvenile detention facility, Carole E. Gaeckle saw firsthand the potential ramifications related to the emotional dilemmas of parenting. After becoming a parent, she discovered that self-reflection and mindfulness greatly improved her own ability to handle these challenges. "Parenting from Wholeness: Ten Habits for Bringing Out the Best in Your Child" (published by Balboa Press) is her practical guide for assisting parents in developing self-awareness and in enhancing their child's social and emotional health.
"Parents want to be successful in their parenting and to experience their child succeeding," says Gaeckle. "Unfortunately the many twist and turns associated with parenting often cause them to stumble - when do I let go vs stay involved, is it better for my child to see me working or staying home, etc. By examining these dilemmas and analyzing the best way forward for their individual circumstances, parents can gain awareness, knowledge, and confidence. These skills brought more joy to my life and my hope is that it will for others too."
Through reading her book, Gaeckle hopes parents will understand "they are very important in their child's life and with awareness and knowledge they can do a great job of parenting, have more fun and confidence in the process, and make this world a better place."
