Vehicular collisions stemming from driving under the influence of alcohol claims 11,000 lives each year. These tragedies are 100% preventable, and could be eliminated if people make the commitment to avoid driving while drunk, because with each life taken, a family is left behind to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. This is what author Carla Kringer experienced with the loss of her father. Her new book, "It's a Wonderful Unfinished Life," shares her family's journey through grief and their ensuing battle for justice on behalf of the loved one they lost.

The book chronicles the life of Jo Jo Gigliotti, who lived a wonderful, unfinished life. The author, who is his daughter, shares the ordeal that ensued after his life was taken by a drunk driver on April 24, 2008. The family made a vow to be the voice of Kringer's father and other victims of drinking and driving. This book is their story, and will take readers into the heart of the tragedy where the family's healing was hindered due to the criminal proceedings involved with the prosecution of the drunk driver. Families facing a similar situation will find detailed information and resources to help them understand and navigate the complex criminal justice system. Readers will receive a glimpse into the roles of law enforcement, prosecutors, and defense attorneys during the prosecution of the drunk driver and the heart-wrenching toll the process took on the family.

The author's life was forever changed that day. She has embraced the traumatic event in the hope that others will gain knowledge while receiving comfort and healing, knowing they can emerge from the darkness brought by death and grief.

"You may not emerge the same person you were, but you can emerge a survivor with peace and hope restored in your life once again," Kringer shares. That is her wish for her readers as they partake in her father's story and share in her family's walk through grief. From it, they may gain inspiration, hope, and information to empower them to fight for justice, as well as validation and an understanding of what they may be experiencing or what someone may experience if they face a similar tragedy.
