At the tender age of 15, Candice C. Kirkbride's life changed forever. In her memoir, "Changed by the Rain: Life after a Brain Injury" (published by iUniverse), Kirkbride shares her triumph over tragedy, chronicling the events that followed her brain injury.
Kirkbride demonstrates the power positivity plays in survival, and encourages readers to move beyond the despair they may be facing: "I show people to laugh in face of adversity," she says.
"I was the first person to believe in my dream and that is all that matters," Kirkbride adds. Encouraged by others who shared their stories on stage, she began speaking about her journey through recovery and spoke at a Toastmasters conference in Washington, D.C. With her new book, she hopes to inspire others to thrive in life and pursue their goals, regardless of whatever walls may stand between them and their dreams.
