Candace Clark, a life long writer and patron of the arts, has completed her first book "The Label": a gripping and potent reminder of how ephemeral and fleeting the idea of equality can be when those in power turn a blind eye.

Clark says: "I feel the message that my book conveys, illustrates how important respect and tolerance are in making a society where everyone can flourish and be heard. One thing that I wanted was for the reader to see that Evan and his family are good people, not immoral hooligans that some people seem to think that Atheists are."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Candace Clark's poignant tale is a thoughtfully crafted story which provides an atypical viewpoint, that of the teenage atheist in a social setting filled with theists eager to provide their opinion and derision.

All Evan Snyderman wants is to be respected, but the kids at his Clairemont, Illinois high school refuse to give it to him or his five like-minded friends and it's all based on one thing: their label.

And the most popular kids in the high school, the "goodies", are trying their best to make sure they don't get it either.

So, when Evan decides to run for student council in order to even the playing field of fairness, all hell breaks out and it will take everything Evan and his friends can muster to survive after Evan tries to get a longstanding and endearing tradition removed from the high school. And since the old guard refuses to cede to his request, they will do whatever it takes to maintain the status-quo, even if that involves mind games, threats and physical altercations.

How long will Evan last and how hard will he fight until he wins the respect he so desperately wants?

Readers who wish to experience this insightful work can purchase"The Label" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
