TORONTO, ON - In a world with no winners and losers where nobody fails a grade and every child expects a participation trophy Dr. Svec says today's kids are growing up with an outrageous sense of entitlement ... and it's their parents' fault.

The award-winning Canadian psychologist is frustrated that so many parents cook separate meals for picky preschoolers, drive their teenagers to school so they can sleep late, and run themselves ragged because they don't make their kids wash dishes, do laundry or mow lawns.

"The purpose of parenting is to prepare your child to take on the world when we're all gone," says Dr. Svec. "You can't expect someone to be self-disciplined if they haven't experienced any discipline."

Fed up with the modern wave of "pushover parenting," Dr. Svec wrote Don't Be a Wimp: Raise a Strong Leader. The book is generating a lot of buzz from parents who agree with his no-nonsense style of raising children as well as those who are taken aback by his firm approach to discipline.

Dr. Svec spoke with exceptional Canadians like football all-star Claude "Ripper" Riopelle, real estate mogul Ho Tek, St. F.X. head football coach Gary Waterman, marketing maven Natasha Borota, retired educator John Milne, and Paralympic medallist Kimberly Joines about how they were raised, and describes the type of parenting that creates responsible, happy, self-confident young adults.

"I don't know where it came from that your children are supposed to like you," says Dr. Svec. "I see parents who want to do the right thing but don't have the courage to do it."
